PIVA's Mission
PIVA unites and influences Virginia's printing
and graphic communications industry with
relevant information, education and interconnection.
Printing Industries of Virginia, a
membership organization of printers and graphic communications businesses, has been representing the industry since 1953. PIVA's direction is set by members so programs, activities and legislative
agenda reflect the needs and interests of people working in the industry.
Membership offers the opportunity to:
• learn how to be better printers, keeping up with changes in technology
and process.
• learn how to be more profitable.
• learn how to protect themselves from unfair taxation.
• learn how to speak as one voice to limit government intervention.
Vision:
PIVA is a vibrant association influencing the future of Virginia's
graphic communications industry.
Regulation:
Since 1953, PIVA has been the advocate for printers in Virginia.
PIVA is pro-business and navigates the legislative process to promote
and protect printers. PIVA often joins forces with other statewide
organizations on issues that affect Virginia businesses.
PIVA's thumbprint is all over sales and use tax issues affecting
printers. PIVA partners with Printing Industries of America nationally
on postal reform, employment, manufacturing and environmental issues.
PIVA is a respected lobbying force in the Virginia General Assembly
working to represent printers' interests By keeping members informed on
critical issues. Elected legislators in every legislative district are
contacted by knowledgeable printers to ensure our voice is heard. PIVA
represents all printers when carrying the message right into the
Capitol.
PrintPAC contributes to legislators who can make a difference
in Virginia's printing business. Print Day at the Capitol is an annual
event to help legislators understand printers to become more involved in
the legislative process while getting to know their elected legislators.
PIVA acts as a resource for printers who have questions about
environmental regulations and compliance issues. A phone call to the
PIVA office in Richmond provides answers about Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and
Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) requirements.
